ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville baseball team begins a busy week Tuesday when the Bulldogs travel to East Tennessee State for a 3:05 start. Tuesday's game was originally scheduled to start at 7:05 but has been moved back to 3:05 p.m.

You can get live stats for Tuesday's game at www.etsubucs.com.

Asheville (11-9) is coming off an impressive sweep of Big South Conference foe VMI this weekend. The Bulldogs won 5-4, 6-4 and 9-5 and are 3-0 in league play for the first time since the 2006 campaign.

Asheville's game with ETSU starts a stretch of five games in six days. The men of Tom Smith host Western Carolina at McCormick Field Wednesday night at 6 p.m. before heading to Radford to take on the RU Highlanders in a three-game BSC series starting on Friday.

"We had a nice weekend against VMI," commented Asheville coach Tom Smith. "Our guys did a good job with some clutch hits and our pitching was solid throughout the weekend. We had too many errors and need to tighten that up as we go forward."

The Bulldogs face a tough test at ETSU. The Buccaneers are 10-8 on the season and have won the last seven meetings between the teams, including both games last year. Asheville has not beaten ETSU since the 2006 season.

The Bulldogs are led at the plate by Hunter Bryant with a .383 average, while Jordan Lurie is batting .366. Bill Creighton is hitting .358 and leads the team with three home runs and 22 RBI.

Asheville faces a strong Western Carolina club on Wednesday as the Catamounts are 15-5 on the year. Radford owns nine straight wins over the Bulldogs. The Highlanders are 10-10 in 2012.

"Western Carolina is really good this season with some real impressive non-conference wins," stated Smith. "Radford beat us pretty soundly last year and has another solid club this season."
