Ristic Honored by Big South Conference

Ristic Takes Second at Kent Taylor

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Sophomore sprinter Milan Ristic took second place in the 60-meter hurdles at the Kent Taylor Invitational on Saturday to highlight the Bulldogs indoor track and field team's performance.

Ristic, against a tough field, took second in the event with a time of 8.06. He also qualified for the 60-meters and finished in sixth at a time of 7.10.

Asheville had highlights from both teams throughout the day. In the field events, Kurt Hibert came in third in the weight throw with a toss of 14.78 meters.

In the triple jump, John Bellard finished sixth with a leap of 12.89 meters. Delano Loritts came in ninth at 12.61 meters.

Sam Maynard took seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.54. Aaron Martin finished ninth at 2:00.

Highlighting the women's team performance was a fourth-place finish by the 4x400 relay team. The foursome of Sarah Gentry, Molly Harkavy, Emily Pineda and Alyska Kalmeijer posted a time of 4:07.20.

In the 800 meters, Melanie Kulesz finished in sixth place at 2:23.10. Emma Bussard took 12th with a time of 2:25.

Gentry finished sixth in the 400 meters at 1:00.06. In the 3000 meters, Kylie Smith came in sixth at 10:47. Rachel Carson was seventh at 10:48.

Harkavy competed in the 60-meter hurdles s and had a time of 9.44. She also ran in the 200 meters and posted a time of 27.36.

Meredith Foster finished ninth in the high jump with a leap of 1.55 meters. Corey McClintock took seventh in the weight throw at 13.50 meters.  Ashlei Clodfelter came in ninth in the triple jump with a leap of 9.98 meters.

UNC Asheville is back in action next Saturday at the JDL Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.
