"We played another good match today," commented Bulldog assistant coach Tom Hand. "Augusta has an excellent team and will win a lot of matches this season. Our guys stayed focused the whole day and got the job done."
The win was the Bulldogs second straight and improved their record to 4-3.
Asheville earned the doubles point when Jonas Brobeck and Matt Waissen won their sixth straight match at the #1 flight, 8-3. The Bulldogs #3 team of Pete Conaty and John Schubel earned the point by winning their match, 8-5.
In singles action, Brobeck moved to 6-1 on the season with a straight set win over Henrique Boturao, 6-3-, 6-2 at #2 flight. Thomas Rees won a close match at #3 as he beat Victor Cabellos, 7-6, 7-6. Adrien Langeard, John Schubel and Ryan Matthews all earned victories in straight sets.
The Bulldogs open Big South Conference play on Saturday when they host Campbell at 11 a.m.
