01.08.2012 | Women's Basketball
Asheville (6-9, 1-2 BSC) is coming off a great performance on Saturday when the Bulldogs downed Coastal Carolina 69-60 at Kimmel. Betsy Blose's team trailed by 11 points in the first half but Asheville held the Chanticleers scoreless for nearly seven minutes in the second half and won going away. Lindsey Thompson led the Blue & White with 18 points and eight assists. Freshman forward Leah Wormack had 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Charleston Southern brings a four-game winning streak to Asheville on Monday. The Lady Bucs have been a bit of a surprise in the Big South this season and are 3-0 in league play after a 63-53 win at Gardner-Webb on Saturday. CSU owns impressive non-conference victories over Clemson, College of Charleston and Furman this year.
The Lady Bucs have also controlled the series as of late against Asheville. CSU has won four straight in the series, including 85-74 and 98-79 wins last season.
"Charleston Southern is a well-coached team that is playing some very good basketball right now," stated Asheville coach Betsy Blose. "We had a great win on Saturday against Coastal Carolina but we have to be ready to play Monday night."
