Bulldogs Host Radford Monday Night

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's basketball team is home Monday night when the Bulldogs host Radford at Kimmel Arena starting at 7 p.m. Monday's game can be seen via video-streaming at www.uncabulldogs.com.

Asheville (7-12, 3-5 BSC) will try and rebound after a tough 78-56 loss to Liberty Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs led 30-27 at halftime but the Flames shot 60 percent in the second half to record the victory.

This will be the Lady Highlanders (9-10, 3-5 BSC) second trip to Kimmel Arena. Radford competed in the Asheville Collegiate Invitational on Dec. 10 and defeated Wofford, 63-46.

The Bulldogs hope to continue their home winning ways on Monday night as Asheville's loss on Saturday snapped a five-game winning streak at Kimmel. Betsy Blose's team is 7-3 in its new arena this season.

Freshman guard Shonese Jones continues to have an outstanding year for Asheville. She's averaging 14.6 points per game and scored 19 points against Liberty Saturday. Lindsey Thompson is second in scoring with an 11.8 average. She leads the Big South in free throw percentage at .914. Kelli Riles is second in the Big South in rebounding with an 11.2 mark.

Radford is led by junior guard Da'Naria Erwin Spencer with a 16.8 scoring average. The Highlanders have won two straight, including a 63-50 victory at Gardner-Webb on Saturday.

The Bulldogs are on the road for their next two games after Monday's game with RU. Asheville travels to Charleston Southern on Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest. On Monday, the Bulldogs finish their South Carolina swing with a game at Coastal Carolina starting at 7 p.m.

BULLDOG NOTES

Senior guard Lindsey Thompson is making a move on 1,000 career points. She has 976 points entering today's game as she's looking to become the 15th player in school history to get to 1,000 points. Thompson became the school's all-time leader in three-pointers made back in November. She has knocked down 188 treys in her great career. 

Shonese Jones has scored in double figures in 12 of the last 13 games.

Leah Wormack has been named Big South Rookie of the Week three times.

Freshman guard Tacey Trammel had a career-high seven assists vs. Liberty.

Asheville is second in the Big South in free throw percentage at .726.

Kelli Riles is second in the Big South in rebounding with an 11.2 average and fifth in free throw percentage at .800.
