Editors Note: This season, senior guard Lindsey Thompson will be providing a blog throughout the year taking you behind the scenes with the UNC Asheville women's basketball team. This is her latest blog.
Since I've last wrote we have started playing games and are currently 6-9. We had a few close non-conference games that we weren't able to pull out. Since then we have won a couple conference games and played great. We just recently beat Coastal Carolina who was ranked 34 in the mid-major poll. We are focused on defense and are continually getting better and better each day. We are building the chemistry we have needed since the beginning of the season and trusting each other.
We are also having fun off the court. Two weekends ago, we had a secret Santa party and as always had great laughs. We each draw a name and buy a person a gag gift.
On another note, we have started spring semester classes and are now having to manage our time as students again. We have to maintain a certain level of focus to make sure we work hard in the classroom and still perform on the court. Personally last semester I had to find time to apply to physical therapy school, which was a time-consuming process. I had to miss a couple practices to attend an interview but Coach Blose understood because she stresses academics. This is all part of being a student-athlete. UNC Asheville had given me the education to pursue my future endeavors.
