Asheville has a great deal of optimism heading into this season. The Bulldog program has steadily improved under the guidance of head coach Lise Gregory and assistant coach Tom Hand. Asheville went 10-11 in 2011 against an ambitious schedule and advanced to the semifinals of the Big South Conference Championships where they narrowly lost to Winthrop.
The Bulldogs return six lettermen and enjoyed a very good fall season. Talented junior Adrien Langeard heads up the returnees.
"We're excited about the upcoming year," declared Gregory. "Our upper classmen have improved with each season and have learned to win those tough three-set matches and tie-breakers. We face a formidable schedule but believe we can have success along the way."
One thing that has both Bulldog programs excited about is the 2012 Big South Conference Championships will be held in Asheville at both Asheville Racquet Club locations the weekend of April 19-21.
"We're delighted to have our championships here in Asheville," commented Gregory. "It should be an exciting weekend and a great chance to show off our wonderful facilities at the Asheville Racquet Club."
The Bulldogs play their home opener on Feb. 4 at the ARC Downtown location starting at 3 p.m.
