Bulldogs Fall To Davidson In Three

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The UNC Asheville volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Davidson College on Friday afternoon at the 2011 Gamecock Invitational hosted by South Carolina, falling by the scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-20.
The Bulldogs fall to 2-3 on the year with the loss while Davidson improves to 4-1. Asheville is now 1-1 at the Gamecock Invitational after defeating Elon earlier in the day.
Sophomore outside hitter Anna Moore led all Bulldogs with 11 kills with senior Cindi Miller posting eight. Hallie Morse posted 20 assists while Jaimie Dorfman recorded 11 as the two split time at setter while Miller led all Asheville players with nine digs.
The Wildcats hit .364 as a team with Carolina Brown recording an impressive .471 average on 19 kills. Ariel Ley tallied 33 assists directing the Davidson offense while Tindall Sewell posted six blocks on defense.
The Blue & White will look to get back on track on Saturday morning when they will play Big South Conference foe Gardner-Webb at 9:30 a.m. The match will not count as a conference match but will be a sneak preview for when GWU comes to the Justice Center on Sept. 23. The Bulldogs will then play host South Carolina at 7 p.m. to close out the event.
