Editor's Note: UNC Asheville senior guard Lindsey Thompson will be writing a blog throughout the 2011-12 academic year to give us a behind the scenes look of the Bulldog women's basketball team as they play their first season at Kimmel Arena.

My name is Lindsey Thompson and I'll be a senior this year on the Women's Basketball team. I am very excited for the upcoming year, and I know it will be the best yet. We have higher expectations for ourselves on the court and in the classroom. We are also creating memories and traditions off the court.  Two weeks ago we had our second annual Road Rally. We were separated into four teams and given a packet of necessary items to complete the game. We used bus transportation to get to our destinations, which was a different yet good experience for us.  Most of the items on our list we could locate downtown such as chopsticks, taste-testing, and taking pictures. This was exciting for our team because we had the opportunity to see all these new restaurants we wanted to try! It was also good to see the different things you can do in downtown Asheville.  It was based on a point system and unfortunately my team didn't win, but it was still a lot of fun!

Pre-season has started and we are getting better each day! We are lifting, conditioning, and working on our individual skills on the court. This team is the hardest working team I have been a part of at Asheville.  These past few weeks we have wanted to do extra because we know that what we have been doing isn't going to cut it anymore. We encourage each other because we each want to be successful.  This is very encouraging and I know we will be a great team to come out and watch this year!

This weekend we are going on a team retreat to build our chemistry with one another. Next blog I will have an opportunity to tell you all about it!
