Koontz and Turner Selected for All-Star Teams

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville baseball team had two players make All-Star teams in two different summer leagues.

Senior outfielder Patrick Koontz has been starring for the Thomasville HiToms of the Coastal Plain League this summer. He's hitting .277 with 15 RBI and he'll play in the league All-Star game on Monday night in Fayetteville.

Closer to home is sophomore Sam Turner. The former Asheville HS standout is playing for the Asheville Redbirds of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League. He's playing catcher for the Redbirds and is hitting .284 with two home runs and team-leading 12 RBI.  Turner will play in the league's All-Star game this Sunday afternoon at Winthrop Ballpark in Rock Hill, S.C.
