Bulldog Track and Field Teams Excell at Western Carolina

Ristic also finished second in the 110 Hurdles as he enjoyed an excellent day for the Bulldog men's track and field squad.
On the women's side, Asheville posted three first-place finishes on the day. Natalie Pearson finished first in the 100 meters. Sarah Gentry took first in the 400 meters and Melanie Kulesz captured the 1500 meters.
Ristic finished first in the 100 meters with a time of 10.96. In the shot put, he won the long jump with a leap of 6.73 meters. Ristic took second in the 110 hurdles as he posted a time of 14.72.
Pearson won her fifth straight race of the outdoor season as she finished first in the 100 meters at 11.79.
Gentry won the 400 at a time of 58.75. Kulesz took first in the 1500 meters at 4:41. Emma Bussard took third in the 1500 at 4:49, while Kylie Smith finished fifth with a time of 4:57.
The 4x400 relay team of Sara Gentry, Alyska Kalmeijer, Rachel Carson and Melanie Kulesz finished second with a time of 4:11.
In field events, Emily Pineda finished third in the discus (33.90) and fifth in the hammer throw (30.34). Claire Anderson was fifth in the hammer throw at 25.86 meters.
Other highlights for the men's team came from Simon Haake. He finished second in the shot put (14.16) and hammer throw (49.94). Haake finished seventh in the discus (37.77).
Kurt Hibert took third in the discus (38.93) and fifth in the hammer throw (44.16). Jeremy Harn finished sixth in the shot put (12.54) and eighth in the discus (38.87).
Carlos Lopez posted a time of 10:26 in the 3000 Steeplechase and finished in third place. Eliud Chirchir took fourth at a time of 10:29.
