ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- The UNC Asheville women's basketball team will head to Virginia to take on the Highlanders of Radford University on Saturday afternoon as the Bulldogs look to earn another upset over one of the top teams in the Big South Conference.

Asheville upset third-place Gardner-Webb last weekend, 60-59, and will look to pick up another win against a league leader. The Highlanders are  currently tied for first in the BSC with an overall record of 10-11 and a 7-1 mark in league play.

The Bulldogs are currently 9-11 on 2-6 in the Big South.

After the victory over the Runnin' Bulldogs on Saturday, the Blue & White suffered a 53-51 setback against Presbyterian College on Monday evening. The Bulldogs could never get their offense on track against the stingy Blue Hose defense as the two teams combined for 39 turnovers.

The Bulldogs are 16-41 lifetime against the Highlanders having dropped six of the past eight meetings. Asheville's last victory against Radford came on March 1, 2010 when the Bulldogs earned a 75-68 decision over RU in overtime at the Justice Center. Kendall Shepard and Lindsey Thompson each posted 15 points in the victory for the Blue & White.

In the last meeting between the two schools on Jan. 3 Kaylen Crosier scored a career-high 20 points as Radford led from start to finish and defeated homestanding UNC Asheville 81-69 in the Big South Conference opener at Justice Center. Crosier went 9-of-14 from the field and a perfect 2-of-2 from beyond the arc to help the Highlanders break a five-game losing streak.

The Bulldogs were led by Kelli Riles with 20 points and 12 rebounds. The sophomore forward earned her seventh double-double of the season and went 8-of-10 from the field. Kendall Shepard finished with 12 points and six assists.

This is the third of four consecutive away games for the Bulldogs. Asheville's next home game is not until Feb. 12 when the Blue & White hosts Presbyterian College.
