Men's Tennis to Open the Season at Home on Friday

The Bulldog netters return all seven lettermen from last year's club. Asheville went through a frustrating 2010 season as injuries and close losses led the Dogs to a 6-14 overall record.
"We believe we're going to be better this year," commented Bulldog coach Lise Gregory. "If we can just stay away from the injury bug and win some of those 4-3 matches then I think we can be significantly better than last season."
Asheville has a talented team back. The seniors are Nicolai Nonnenbroich and Nathan White. Nonnebroich has battled some injuries throughout his career with the Bulldogs but when healthy he'll be at the top of the Asheville line-up. White has had a tremendous career for the Bulldogs and he enjoyed a great fall season. White went unbeaten in the UNC Greensboro Invitational in both singles and doubles.
Juniors Jonas Brobeck and Thomas Rees return along with sophomores Andrien Langeard, Ryan Matthews and Matt Waissen. All earned valuable experience in 2010 and should be better for it in 2011.
"We have some good experience back and hopefully we can put the pieces together this year," declared Gregory.
The Bulldogs will also be home on Saturday when they host UNC Greensboro at 3 p.m.
