ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's basketball team is home Wednesday night at Kimmel Arena when the Bulldogs host USC Upstate starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday's game will be video-streamed and can be seen for a small fee at www.uncabulldogs.com.

Asheville (2-3) is looking to even its record after a two tough road losses. Last Monday (Nov. 21), the Bulldogs fell at Furman, 71-59 despite leading for most of the game. On Sunday, the Bulldogs lost at Colonial power George Mason, 88-59.

Asheville faces a USC Upstate team that is 0-6 on the season but the Spartans have faced a tough schedule so far with losses to Auburn and North Carolina. USCS is coached by former Bulldog assistant and Flat Rock native Tammy George. The Spartans went 17-13 last season and finished in third place in the Atlantis Sun Conference.

"We just want to put 40 minutes together of good basketball," commented Asheville coach Betsy Blose. ""We've played well in spurts but now we need to play a complete game.

"USC Upstate's record is very misleading," added Blose. "They've played a difficult non-conference schedule. We know what a good coach Tammy and this is program that has finished in the upper half of the Atlantic Sun the last few years. "We're going to have to play well to have a chance at winning."

Asheville guard Lindsey Thompson leads the Bulldogs in scoring with a 14.0 average. Junior forward Kelli Riles is second in scoring with a 12.8 mark and tops the club in rebounding with a 12.8 average.
