Women's Basketball Inks Three in Early Signing Period

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville women's basketball coach Betsy Blose has announced the signing of three players to national letters-of-intent in the early signing period today.
The Bulldogs inked three North Carolina products. They include 5-8 guard Paige Love from Wilkes Central HS in North Wilkesboro, 5-11 guard/forward Marissa Riles from Lake Norman HS in Mooresville and 6-1 post player Rachel McGirt from Jordan HS in Durham.
"These three young women are not only great basketball players and competitors but outstanding students and people," stated Blose. "They represent the best of the best in the state of North Carolina."
Love averaged 14 points, four rebounds and two per game last season for Wilkes Center. She earned All-Conference, All-County and All-District honors last year.
"Paige is a hard-working competitive guard who leads through example," stated Blose. "She has an excellent mid-range game and will bring energy on both ends of the floor."
Riley has been a four-year starter at Lake Norman. She averaged a double-double as a junior at 15 points and 10 rebounds. Riles has twice been selected to the All-Iredell County team plus earning All-Conference honors. She is a 1,000-point career scorer.
"Marissa is a hard worker who we're pleased to join our program," commented Blose. "We really like the way she plays the game.
McGirt averaged 14 points and eight rebounds per game for Jordan as a junior as she earned All-Conference honors.
"We're thrilled to sign Rachel in the early signing period," declared Blose. "She has a sister who is 6-6 and plays at Hampton so she comes from a basketball family."
