ASHEVILLE, N.C. - CollegeSportsMadness.com has named UNC Asheville Forward Kelli Riles Mid-Major Women's Basketball Player of the Week and Big South Player of the Week for her exceptional performance in the past weeks games. The Madness identifies the highest impact players nationally and one from each conference in their weekly feature.

Riles scored 21 points and collected 24 rebounds to lead UNC Asheville to an 83-74 opening day win over Winston-Salem State at Kimmel Arena Saturday afternoon. Riles was one of four players in double figures for the Bulldogs (1-0). She also went 13-of-13 from the free throw line.

The 13-of-13 effort just misses the school record of 14-of-14 from Tara McMinn set in the 1990-91 season. Riles is the first Asheville player to record a 20-20 since Sheila Ford accomplished the feat in the 1983-84 season. The 24 rebounds were a career-high as were the 13 free throws.

College Sports Madness covers all aspects of college sports...from recruiting right up through the draft.
