Men's Tennis to Compete at Wofford Tournament

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The UNC Asheville men's tennis team will be in action this weekend at the Wofford Tournament starting on Saturday. The Tournament will run through Sunday.

It will be Asheville's first action since last month when the Bulldogs opened the fall season in impressive fashion at the UNC Greensboro Fall Invitational.

Thomas Rees highlighted the weekend in Greensboro as he captured the A3 Flight with a win over top-seeded Virginia Tech's Kevin Castellow, 7-6, 2-6, 6-3.

Assistant coach Tom Hand liked what he saw of the Bulldogs in Greensboro.

"We played some good tennis to open the year," said Hand. "What I liked is that we won a lot of three-set matches. We fought through some adversity and found ways to win."

Hand is looking forward to this weekend.

"We've had some time off and now is a great time to have some more competition," added Hand. "Our guys will get some good experience this weekend at Wofford."
