Men's Tennis Plays Well at Final Fall Event

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville tennis team had two doubles teams get to the finals and Ryan Matthews win the B Flight to highlight the Bulldogs performance at the UNC Asheville Invitational this weekend at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center.

In the A doubles flight, both Asheville doubles team reached the finals as Thomas Rees-Adrien Langeard and Matt Waissen-Jonas Brobeck won all of their matches. The teams decided not to play each other but instead played the opposite semifinal loser. Both doubles team won those matches as well.

In the B singles flight, Ryan Matthews won four matches to claim the flight. He edged out Stuart Roberson of Wofford in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Adrien Langeard reached the finals in the A singles flights before falling to David Orces of The Citadel, 6-3, 6-2.

"All in all it was a very productive weekend for our men's team," stated Asheville coach Lise Gregory. "We won a lot of matches both in singles and doubles. I saw a great deal of improvement from all of our players during the fall. We're looking forward to a great spring season."

This was the last fall event for the men's team. The Bulldogs will open the 2012 spring season in late January.
