Langeard Advances to Round of 32 at ITCA

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Junior Adrien Langeard advanced to the round of 32 to highlight the UNC Asheville men's tennis team's performance at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Carolinas Regional here this past weekend.
Langeard was one of three Bulldogs to post at least one victory in the prestigious tournament.
The Caen, France native knocked off Matthias Kidler of USC Upstate in the first round, 7-6, 6-3. He then roared past Alex Christ of Furman in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4 to reach the round of 32. Langeard fell then to Henrique Cunha of Duke, 6-1, 6-0.
Jonas Brobeck reached the round of 64 in singles action. He defeated Thomas Darling of Elon in three sets. Brobeck rallied to win 3-6, 7-6, 6-1. Brobeck lost to Ahmet Sarioglu of UNC Greensboro in three sets, 7-6, 6-7, 6-4.
Thomas Rees also reached the round of 64. Rees won handily over Josep Baro of Campbell, 6-2, 6-1. He then lost to Yannick Maden of Clemson, 6-0, 6-1.
Matt Waissen lost in the first round of his singles play. He was defeated by Amogh Prabhakar of Wake Forest, 6-2, 6-2.
The men's team is back home this weekend as they'll host the UNC Asheville Fall Invitational at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center.
