Men's Soccer Stuns Radford in OT, 1-0

The Bulldogs (2-5-1, 1-1-0 BSC) were out-shot 12-3 in the match but Asheville goalkeeper Lassi Hurskainen made six saves to pick up his second shutout of the season.
"I'm really proud of our guys this afternoon to pick up a big road win against a very good Radford team," stated second-year coach Matt Kern. "We've been so close in so many games this season. Today we found a way to win, and Bryan made a great play at the end."
The game was scoreless until Bartels big play. Bartels broke away at midfield in the final minute of the first overtime period and struck from 12 yards out to the nearside post to lift Asheville to its first Big South win.
Moments earlier, the Highlanders (5-4, 1-1) had their own golden goal opportunity, but Luis Grande 15-yard attempt narrowly cleared the crossbar.
The loss was the first for Radford in eight home matches.
Grande had a chance to get Radford on the board in the 30th minute after beating two defenders just inside the penalty box and ripping shot off the crossbar and straight down, but not past the goal line. The Highlanders had six shots in the first half.
In the 70th minute Iyiola Awosika sent a ball to the top of the 6-yard box for Dario Redondo, who flicked a shot that was saved by Hurskainen.
Asheville is back on the road Tuesday night when the Bulldogs travel to national power UNC Chapel Hill at 7 p.m.
