Kulesz Captures the Mile at Appalachian Open

Kulesz finished first with a time of 5:21.09, just ahead of Bussard's 5:21.72 who came in second place. Clair Powell took sixth in the event as the Bulldogs dominated this event on the day.
On the men's side, freshman Nick Summers took fourth in the 800 meters to highlight the men's performance on the day. He posted a time of 1:50. Sebastian Paniagua was also in the 800 meters and he had a time of 2:07, followed by Chris Murray's 2:13.
Alyska Kalmeijer took eighth in the 800 meters on the women's side with a time of 2:31. Shelby Lott finished at 2:43, followed by Ginger Buchanan's 3:05.
Freshman Meredith Foster took eighth in the high jump with a leap of 1.53 meters. Emily Pineda competed in both the shot put (9.22 meters) and 400 (1:05).
Freshman sprinter Milan Ristic competed in the 55 meters (6.60) and 200 meters (22.62). Courtney Henry was also in both events and ran 6.75 in the 55 meters and 23.93 in the 200 meters.
Claire Anderson competed in the shot put (7.47 meters) and weight throws (10.97 meters). In the 3000 meters, Kyle Smith finished 16th (11:36), Erin Putnam took 17th (11:48) and Jennifer Black came in 20th (11:59).
In the men's 3000 meters, Tyler Michael had a time of 9:31.52 and finished 24th. Kent Rankin finished right behind Michael. Aaron Nix took part in the 55 Hurdles and finished with a time of 9.18.
Carlos Lopez took a 12th in the mile with a time of 4:42. Eliud Chirchir came in 14th (4:43) and Adam Schnapp finished 23rd (5:05).? Stuart Johnson finished with a time of 54.30 in the 400 meters.
Asheville will have two weeks off before competing again at the Liberty Open (Jan. 28-29).
