UNC Asheville Men's Tennis Picked 7th in Preseason Poll

CHARLOTTE - The UNC Asheville men's tennis has been picked to finish in seventh place this year as the Big South Conference announced its preseason poll this week.
The Bulldogs went through a frustrating season in 2010, finishing with a 6-14 overall record and 1-6 league worksheet. Asheville lost four matches by a 4-3 score, including three in conference play.
Winthrop was the preseason choice to finish in first place, followed by Radford, Coastal Carolina and Liberty.
Asheville returns most of its team from last season. Head Coach Lise Gregory believes this year's team can make some noise in the Big South Conference.
"If we can stay healthy and start winning some close matches, we have a chance to be much improved this season," stated Gregory. "We worked hard in the fall and had some good results. We just need to experience some success and get some confidence."
The Bulldogs open the 2011 season with a home match vs. Augusta State at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center on Feb. 4 starting at 1 p.m.
