MOBILE, Ala. -- Junior outside hitter Cindi Miller posted 17 kills to go along with 17 digs as the UNC Asheville volleyball team picked up its third straight win with a 3-1 defeat of South Alabama as apart of the 2010 South Alabama Invitational on Friday evening.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-2 on the season with the four-set victory, winning 25-12, 25-19, 22-25, 25-23. Senior outside hitter Kelsey Benorden added 16 kills to Asheville's total of 53 team kills, chipping in an additional 10 digs on defense. Benorden and Miller combined for nine blocks on the night as well.

“I thought that we jumped out on them (USA) and played amazingly in the first set,” said head coach Julie Torbett. “It got tougher for us later on in the match but we responded very well. It was a good win for us.”

Setter Rachel Guinane posted 45 assists while adding 10 digs on defense. The Bulldogs tallied 59 total team digs on the night while also out-blocking USA 10-4.

The Jaguars were led on offense by Juliana Pallamin de Almeida, who also recorded 17 kills in the four-set match.

UNC Asheville will close out the tournament tomorrow when the Blue & White will face off against Alabama A&M at 11 a.m. before taking on Southeastern Louisiana at 3 p.m. The Bulldogs defeated the Lions of SE Louisiana earlier today, 3-0.
