Nathan White Goes Unbeaten to Highlight Play for Men's Tennis at UNCG

The weekend was highlighted by the play of senior Nathan White. White went unbeaten in both singles and doubles over the three-day tournament. He went 3-0 in singles at Flight A4 with two victories on Friday and one on Sunday. In doubles competition, White teamed up with Nicolai Nonnenbroich to win both their matches in Flight B Doubles. The only thing that stopped White was weather. He was rained out of playing for the singles and doubles championship on Sunday.
"We got better as the weekend progressed," stated Bulldog assistant coach Tom Hand. "I thought some of our guys were a little rusty on Friday but they bounced back on Saturday and Sunday to play some good tennis.
Hand was especially pleased with the play of White.
"Nathan without question is the highlight of the weekend," declared Hand. "He played very well against some good competition and could not be stopped. We're very happy for him because he is such a hard worker."
The Bulldogs started the tournament on Friday by going just 2-5 in singles in the first round but finished the weekend strong by going overall 12-8. Jonas Brobeck, Matt Waissen and Tom Rees all posted wins after falling in the first round.
The doubles team of Brobeck-Waissen lost their first match on Friday but battled back to win two matches in Flight A.
The Bulldogs are home this weekend at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center as they'll host the UNC Asheville Open. The Bulldogs will host both Mars Hill and Brevard College throughout the weekend starting on Friday and continuing through Sunday.
