ASHEVILLE, N.C. - A game at Marquette plus16 home games highlights the 2010-11 UNC Asheville women' basketball schedule. The schedule was released today by Bulldog head coach Betsy Blose.

"We're very excited about this year's schedule," commented Blose. "I'm pleased to have 16 home games at the Justice Center. We're playing a lot of local teams at home which should help generate a great deal of interest."

Asheville will play one exhibition game and that will be against Mars Hill on Nov. 3. The Bulldogs open the season with a two-game homestand against area foes. Asheville's first regular-season game is against Montreat on Nov. 13, followed by a date with Western Carolina (Nov. 17).

The Bulldogs play their first road game at Campbell on Nov. 17 before coming back home for two more home games. Asheville entertains USC Upstate (Nov. 23) and has a first-time meeting with Brevard (Nov. 27).

December begins with a road game at Appalachian State on Dec. 2, followed by two more games. Asheville hosts Furman (Dec. 11) and South Carolina State (Dec. 15).

The Bulldogs will journey to Milwaukee to take on Marquette (Dec. 18) of the Big East Conference. It will be Asheville's first ever game in the state of Wisconsin.

"We're pleased to have worked out a game at Marquette which is a solid team in the Big East Conference," declared Blose. "This will be a homecoming for Dana Wagner (native of Sun Prairie, Wis.) and it should be exciting to play a team like Marquette on the road."

Betsy Blose's team ends 2010 on the road with two games as the Bulldogs face Mercer (Dec. 22) and N.C. Central (Dec. 29).

The month of January and 2011 will begin with three Big South Conference home games. Asheville takes on Radford (Jan. 3), High Point (Jan. 8) and defending BSC champion Liberty (Jan. 10). The Bulldogs head to the coast of South Carolina for their first league road games against Coastal Carolina (Jan. 15) and Charleston Southern (Jan. 17).

Asheville returns home for home games against Winthrop (Jan. 22) and Longwood (Jan. 24) before beginning a four-game road trip that will have the Bulldogs playing at Gardner-Webb (Jan. 29), Presbyterian College (Jan. 31), Radford (Feb. 5) and Longwood (Feb. 7).

Blose's club will then have a four-game homestand for its final four games at the Justice Center. The Bulldogs take on Presbyterian College (Feb. 12), Gardner-Webb (Feb. 14), Charleston Southern (Feb. 19) and Coastal Carolina (Feb. 21).

Asheville completes the regular-season with road games at Winthrop (Feb. 28), Liberty (March 4) and High Point (March 7). The Bulldogs will then compete in the Big South Conference Tournament, also at High Point (March 11-13).

"We're excited about the upcoming season," Blose also said. "This will be the last year we play games at the Justice Center, and we want to make this season a memorable one."
