ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Former UNC Asheville pitcher Alan DeRatt has been promoted by the Colorado Rockies. DeRatt will report to Modesto (CA) which is the Rockies Class A Advanced franchise in the California League.
DeRatt had been pitching in Asheville for the Asheville Tourists this year. He was in Extended Spring Training before returning to Asheville in late May. DeRatt had a great season for the Tourists as he went 3-1 with a 2.28 ERA with three saves. The 2008 Big South Pitcher of the Year struck out 37 hitters and walked just nine in 43.1 innings of work. He made the South Atlantic League All-Star Game for his good work.
"I'm glad Alan was promoted," stated Bulldog coach Tom Smith. "We've enjoyed watching him pitch for the Tourists this season but this is a great move for him."
