UNC Asheville Baseball to Host ETSU on Tuesday
04.19.2010 | Baseball
ASHEVILLE, N.C. The UNC Asheville baseball team will host East Tennessee State on Tuesday at McCormick Field with the first pitch coming at 3 p.m.
The Bulldogs (11-21) are trying to snap a frustrating four-game losing streak with all of those losses occuring at McCormick Field. Included in that stretch was a three-game sweep by Big South foe Winthrop this weekend. Asheville will face a tough foe in the Buccaneers. ETSU stands 20-15 on the season and is hitting .329 as a team with 54 home runs.
"We've got to put Winthrop behind us and get ready for the game against ETSU and a pretty tough road trip after Tuesday," commented Asheville coach Tom Smith. "We played hard this weekend but a couple of mistakes cost us dearly and that's what happens against good teams.
"I like the way we fought back and never quit over the weekend," added Smith. "We just need to be a little more consistent."
The Bulldogs are on the road for their next 10 games after Tuesday's game against the Bucs. Asheville plays at Furman on Wednesday night and then heads to High Point for a crucial three-game conference series starting on Friday.
