ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's basketball team finishes the regular season Friday night when the Bulldogs host Winthrop at Justice Center starting at 7 p.m. The Big South battle between these teams will be video-streamed by www.uncabulldogs.com.

Asheville (8-20, 3-12 BSC) hopes to build a little momentum for next week's Advance Auto Parts Big South Conference Women's Basketball Championship at High Point. The Bulldogs won their most exciting game of the year on Monday night when as they rallied past Radford, 75-68 in overtime at Justice Center.

In addition, Asheville will honor red-shirt junior Kiana Rainey prior to the game. Rainey will graduate in May and is playing her final home game at Justice Center on Friday.

"We were pleased to get the win over Radford on Monday, and I like way we won the game," commented Asheville coach Betsy Blose. "We had some adversity but found a way to get the game to overtime and picked up the victory. Our kids are still playing hard, and we'd like to go into the tournament with a couple of wins under our belt. "

Winthrop is 12-16 overall and 6-8 in the Big South Conference. The Eagles defeated Coastal Carolina on Monday night, 47-39. They downed Asheville on Jan. 30 in Rock Hill, 44-38.

"Winthrop plays good defense and gave us fits offensively when we played them earlier this year," stated Blose. "We're going to have to take better care of the basketball and make shots when we get them."

Junior forward Lindsey Montgomery continues to lead the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounds. She'll bring a 12.3 scoring and 10.3 rebounds averaging into Friday night's game.  Montgomery got some help against Radford as Kendall Shepard and Lindsey Thompson both scored 15 points each. It was Thompson's three-pointer that sent the game into overtime. Kiana Rainey enjoyed the first double-double of her career with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
