ASHEVILLE, NC - The UNC Asheville men's and women's track and field teams are back in action this weekend at the Beynon Sport Surfaces Catamount Classic hosted by Western Carolina on Saturday.
Competition is scheduled to begin Saturday morning with the field events and running events.
"This is a low-key meet for us," stated Asheville head coach Jesse Norman. "We are looking to improve on our season-bests in each event."
Returning to competition this weekend is senior Simon Haake. Haake set a school record last week at the Charlotte 49ers Classic with a throw of 61.22 meters in the javelin. He is scheduled to compete in the high jump, long jump, shot put and 200-meter dash this weekend for the Bulldogs.
Senior sprinter Natalie Pearson looks to continue her recent dominance in sprinting events. She finished second in the 100 meters last week at Charlotte with a time of 11.97 into a headwind. Pearson is scheduled to compete in the 100, 200 and 400-meter relay with Ashlei Clodfelter, Sarah Gentry and Eureka Jones.
