Bulldog Baseball Hosts Liberty This Weekend

Asheville (5-14, 0-3 BSC) ended an eight-game losing streak with a thrilling 5-4 victory over North Carolina Central on Wednesday. Freshman second baseman Robert McIntosh delivered a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth inning to rally the Bulldogs to the win.
Asheville will have a stiff challenge against the Flames. Liberty (13-6) opens league play this weekend against the Bulldogs and boasts an excellent pitching staff.
"We're going to face some good pitching this weekend," declared Asheville coach Tom Smith. "They have guys who can really pitch. Liberty is one of the top teams in the Big South and posted some great non-conference wins. We'll need to be ready to play and compete from the start on Friday."
The freshmen duo of Ian Graham and McIntosh continue to lead Asheville in hitting. Graham has an eight-game hitting streak entering this weekend and has a .377 average. McIntosh is hitting at .339. Junior outfielder Danny Baatz leads the Bulldogs in home runs with three and RBI with 14.

The Bulldogs have played two of their 17 games at home this season...Junior right-hander Grier Harrington has allowed just one earned run in his last 10 innings of works...Asheville is 2-5 in one-run games...the Bulldogs have won a home series vs. Liberty two of the last three times the Flames have come to Greenwood Field...Asheville has more home runs (11) than its opponents (10) this season.
