Haake Sets School Record in Javelin; Finishes First at Charlotte

Haake set a school record last week at Coastal Carolina with a javelin toss of 60.98 meters. The record didn't last long as Haake finished first at Charlotte in a field of more than 30 participants from around the country.
Senior sprinter Natalie Pearson continued her good start to her final outdoor season. She finished second in the 100 meters with a time of 11.97.
There were plenty of other highlights for both Bulldog teams across the board over the weekend. In the 5000 meters on the women's side, Melanie Kulesz took sixth at a time of 17:48. Kylie Smith had a time of 19:51 and Jennifer Black posted a time of 20:35 in the 5000. Kulesz took 17th in the 800 at a time of 2:22. Katie Olert was right behind her in 18th, also at 2:22.
Sophomore Emma Bussard took seventh in the 3000 Steeplechase at 12:14.
Senior Corrie Trotter took fifth in the high jump with a leap of 1.55 meters. Freshman Ashlei Clodfelter finished sixth in the javelin with a throw of 36.12 meters. Emily Pineda placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 34.92 meters.
On the men's side, Eliud Chirchir finished ninth in the 800 at 1:53. Sam Maynard took 17th with a time of 1:56. Chirchir came in 14th in the 1500 at 3:59. Teammate Carlos Lopez came in 10th in the 1500 at 3:58.
Nick Mozzone placed eighth in the high jump at 1.85 meters. Haake also competed in the discus and had a throw of 35.65 meters. Jeremy Harn had a throw of 11.43 meters in the shot put.
Both Bulldog teams will be in action next weekend (March 26-27) at the Western Carolina Invitational.
