CONWAY, S.C. - The UNC Asheville women's basketball team will attempt to end an eight-game Big South Conference losing streak Monday night when the Bulldogs travel to Coastal Carolina to do battle with the Chanticleers starting at 7 p.m. The game will be video-streamed and can be seen on www.bigsouthsports.com

Asheville (6-15. 1-8 NSC) opened Big South play on Jan. 2 with a 59-48 victory over the Chanticleers but have only won one game since that day. The Bulldogs played great defense that day and limited CCU to just 34 percent shooting from the field.

Asheville has struggled on offense for much of the year but put together one of its best games on Saturday in a 90-87 defeat at Charleston Southern. Lindsey Thompson led Asheville with a season-high 18 points. Lindsey Montgomery finished with 18 points, while Kendall Shepard added 16. Chioma Okoli contributed 11 points. The Bulldogs led 50-36 at halftime and led by one late but just couldn't hold off the Lady Bucs.

"We played pretty good defense against Coastal Carolina the first time we played them but it will take another great effort on Monday," commented Bulldog coach Betsy Blose. "Coastal Carolina plays very well at home and is hard to beat. We're going to need to play well on both ends of the floor on Monday."

The Bulldogs return home to host Big South rival Presbyterian on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. The game will be televised regionally by WMYA-TV
