ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's basketball team is back on the road this weekend as the Bulldogs head to the coast of South Carolina for games against Charleston Southern on Saturday at 5 p.m. and Coastal Carolina on Monday at 7 p.m.

Asheville (6-15, 1-7 BSC) is trying to end a seven-game Big South Conference losing streak against the team that began the streak - Charleston Southern. The Bulldogs opened BSC play with a 59-48 victory over Coastal Carolina on Jan. 2 at Justice Center but lost to the Lady Bucs two days later, 67-50. Asheville has not played since a 44-38 defeat at Winthrop last Saturday.

"We're battling and trying hard to get better but we have to get better on offense," commented Bulldog coach Betsy Blose. "We're not scoring enough points. We're missing way too many shots and committing way too many turnovers. I believe we can get better in all those areas and determined to make sure we do improve."

Asheville faces a tough test at Charleston Southern (11-10, 3-5 BSC). The Lady Bucs are second nationally in three-pointers made with nine per game. Katie Tull is fourth in the country with 3.7 treys per game.

"Charleston Southern is a tough team to defend with the way it shoots the three-pointer," declared Blose. "We're going to have to a better job defending the arc than we did the first time we played them. They're a good team and always tough to beat at home."

Junior forward Lindsey Montgomery continues to have a great year for the Bulldogs. She is averaging a double-double this year with a 12.5 scoring average and 10.7 rebounding mark. Her rebounding average is 14th in the nation. She has nine double-doubles on the year and that's 21st best nationally.

NOTES - Asheville is out-rebounding its opponents by close to five per game (40.8-36.1) and have out-rebounded eight of its last 10 opponents...junior guard Chioma Okoli has posted double-doubles in two of the last three games...Asheville has scored below 60 points in eight of the last 10 games...sophomore guard Lindsey Thompson has two straight double-figure scoring games.
