Asheville (3-1) has won its last two games and posted an impressive 95-76 victory over USC Upstate Tuesday night at Justice Center. Junior guard Lindsey Thompson tallied a career-high 26 points in the victory.
"We really raised the tempo in the game and took them out of what they wanted to do," said Asheville head coach Betsy Blose. "We got contributions from so many people. Lindsey Thompson is getting better and better each week and all of the kids are starting to buy into our style of play."
Brevard (3-4) has won three of its last four games as the Tornados knocked off Lees-McRae on Saturday, 71-56.
"We know Brevard will bring a scrappy and determined team to Justice Center on Monday night," commented Blose. "We've had a nice break but now it's time for us to play. We want to keep playing well and earning some wins."
Asheville is being led by Thompson this year. She leads the Bulldogs and the Big South in scoring with a 21.0 scoring average. Senior guard Kendall Shepard is next with a 19.0 average. Sophomore forward Kelli Riles leads Asheville and the Big South in rebounding with an 11.0 per game mark. She's also averaging 10.3 points per game.
