CONWAY, S.C. - Cindi Miller had a game-high 19 kills but it wasn't enough as Coastal Carolina downed UNC Asheville 3-1 in Big South Conference volleyball action at Kimbel Arena Saturday afternoon. The Chanticleers won the match 25-12, 25-14, 23-25, 25-17.

CCU (12-12, 5-4 BSC) was led by a double-double from Chelsy Kimes with 18 kills and 11 digs. Meghan Laffin had 12 kills and hit .600 for the match. Megan Bickford chipped in 10 kills.

Miller enjoyed another double-double on the year as she had 13 digs. The Bulldogs (12-10, 5-4 BSC) had eight kills from Kelsey Benorden. Alex Stewart and Benorden had 17 digs each for Asheville.

"We didn't play very well today," stated Asheville coach Julie Torbett. "We struggled in the first two sets and then did a nice job getting back in the match by winning the third set but could not sustain the momentum.

"We need to play better," added Torbett. "Cindi Miller was just great as she has been all year but we need to give her some help. We need everyone to step up and play better.

The Bulldogs start a much-needed six-game homestand vs. Mercer on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. Asheville has played just three of its 22 matches at Justice Center.

"Our team will be glad to be home and to play some home matches," stated Torbett.
