Tom Smith Inducted Into North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - UNC Asheville head baseball coach Tom Smith was inducted into the North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame Saturday afternoon.
He was inducted along with Jack Sink, the head coach at Myers Park. Also honored was UNC Chapel Hill head coach Mike Fox who earned the Outstanding College Coach Award.
The Association is made up of coaches of amateur baseball throughout the state.
Smith coached for 28 years at nearby T.C. Roberson HS and put together one of the top prep programs in the nation. He led the school to three 3-A state titles in 1983, 2002 and 2002. The Rams won 14 conference titles during his tenure. He posted a 478-185 overall record at Roberson before retiring in 2006.
Smith joined the UNC Asheville coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in 2008 and worked for two years before being named the head coach of the Bulldog program last July.
