Sophomore midfielder Alex Koslick had two assists on the day as the Bulldogs (1-1) scored two quick goals before and after intermission en route to their first victory of the season.
The Division II Torandos fell to 0-3 on the young season.
"We did what we had to do against a Brevard club that makes nothing easy for you," stated UNC Asheville coach Steve Cornish. "I like the energy some of our freshman lads gave us this afternoon. It was a good result and now we move on to the next match."
Asheville controlled play for much of the first half but could not get any high-quality chances. The Bulldogs struck late in the first half when Odum sent a pass to Koslick who made a nice pass to Branden Lassen. The sophomore forward ripped a shot from six yards out into the back of the net for a 1-0 Asheville lead at the 39:59 mark.
The Bulldogs then scored within the first minute of the second half. Brevard was called for a four and on the free kick, Connor Holzinger scored from 20 yards out to give Asheville a 2-0 lead at 45:50.
The home team's final goal came from Odum. He got a pass from Koslick and hit a shot from 15 yards out to push the lead to 3-0 at 72:04.
Brevard came to life in the final 20 minutes and had a flurry o shots led by Craig Galloway with two. Both his shots were saved by Asheville goalkeepers.
The Bulldogs had a 15-5 advantage in the shots and 9-4 edge in corner kicks.
Asheville plays next at Wofford Monday night at 6 p.m.
