Volleyball Wins Sixth Straight; Downs Savannah State in Three Sets
09.11.2009 | Women's Volleyball
Asheville (7-2) won the match despite not playing three of its top players in Kelsey Benorden, Cindi Miller and Jenna Dover. All three were held out with various injuries.
Lauren Ficker led the way for the Bulldogs with 11 kills, while Raquel Miotto played the outside and chipped in six kills.
"We were able to try a lot of different things in the match and that was good to see," commented Asheville coach Julie Torbett. "We played everyone and got contributions from everyone who played. Savannah State was scrappy but we were able to make the plays when we needed to get the win."
Asheville plays its second match of the day against East Carolina at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs finish the tournament off with two matches on Saturday as they'll face Wofford at 1 p.m., followed by Winston-Salem State at 4 p.m.
