Winthrop Completes Sweep of UNC Asheville

ROCK HILL, S.C.?Winthrop scored in each inning but the second and limited UNC Asheville to just four hits in a 15-0 victory on Sunday afternoon.
Kevin Nolan went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, Eddie Rohan had two hits, a home run, and three RBI as the first five Eagle hitters combined to go 11-for-24 with six RBI and 10 runs scored.
Winthrop moves to 29-18 on the season and 16-8 in the Big South. UNC Asheville falls to 8-38 and 4-19 in conference.
Matt D'Angelo was the benefiter of the run support. He improved to 6-1 on the season allowing four hits in six innings. The Eagle bullpen allowed just two walks in three innings.
Kevin Weidenbacher, Beau Zinman, Mike Vaughn, and Catlin Carter each had hits for the Bulldogs. Zinman had the only extra base hit of the game, a double.
Justin Schumer took the loss falling to 1-8 going four innings allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits.
Asheville will take the week off for final exams and return home to Greenwood Field next Saturday to face North Carolina A&T in a 1 p.m. double header.
