Schumer Honored by Big South

ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? UNC Asheville junior infielder and pitcher Justin Schumer was named to the Big South All-Academic team by the league's Sports Information Directors for baseball. The announcement was made Wednesday night at the league's awards ceremony prior to Game 3 of the Big South Conference Baseball Championship.

Schumer is majoring in psychology and has been a member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll for two straight years and a member of the Athletic Director's 3.0 & Above Club for five straight semesters.

On the field, he posted a .277 with five home runs and led the team in RBI with 31. On the mound, Schumer led the Bulldogs with a team-high 49 strikeouts.
