GREENVILLE, TN. - Tusculum College Athletics Director Frankie DeBusk announced today the hiring of UNC Asheville Associate Head Women's Basketball Coach Adell Harris as the Pioneers new head coach. The announcement was made this afternoon at a press conference on the Tusculum campus.
Harris has been on Betsy Blose's staff for six years and has been a part of some of the best years of the UNC Asheville program. Her first year, 2003-04, saw the Bulldogs finish with a 19-9 overall record and produce one of the best turnarounds in NCAA history. The next year had Asheville advancing to the Big South Conference championship game and recording a 18-12 record. Two years later, Harris and the Bulldogs won the league championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. Asheville went 21-12 that season and won the most games in a season in 23 years.
Blose appreciates the job Harris did for the Bulldog program.
"Adell has been a very loyal and hard working assistant for us for six years," stated Blose. "She is ready to be a head coach. I am very happy for her. She has paid her dues and I know she will do a great job at Tusculum. We hate to see her go but we wish her the very very best."
“I am extremely thankful to Betsy Blose for being the first person to believe in my abilities as a collegiate coach” added Harris. “I am grateful for the opportunities that she has provided for me to grow professionally in her program. My time at UNC Asheville has prepared me tremendously for this opportunity and for that I am greatly appreciative to the entire Asheville athletics department.”
