ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's and women's Outdoor Track and Field squads will be back in action this weekend at the Duke Invitational (April 3-4) that will be held at Wallace Wade Stadium.

Both Bulldog squads had some encouraging performances at the Winthrop Invitational last weekend.

Second-year coach Jesse Norman expects some strong competition this weekend at Duke.

“We're going to see some very good teams this weekend,” stated Norman. “This competition should prepare us for the Big South Conference meet in two weeks.”

Junior sprinter Natalie Pearson is having an excellent outdoor season. She won the 200-meters at Winthrop last Saturday and finished second in the 100. Pearson is scheduled to run in both events this weekend.

On the men's side, the big highlight of last weekend was the performance of Keith Scruggs. Scruggs finished fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 48.37 meters. It was the second best throw in school history. Scruggs also competed in the discus (27.58) and javelin (35.71).
