Pearson Earns All-Conference Honors in the 200

RADFORD, VA. ? Junior sprinter Natalie Pearson finished third in the 200-meter dash and fourth in the 100 to highlight UNC Asheville's performance on the final day of the New Balance Big South Conference Track and Field championships at Cupp Stadium.
Pearson earned Big South honors in the 200 with a time of 24.22. She posted a time of 11.98 in the 100 as she earned 13 points for the Bulldog women's team on Saturday. In addition, she was named to the Big South Conference All-Academic team for her work in the classroom.
Other results on Saturday included a ninth-place finish from freshman Emily Pineda in the discus with a throw of 35.29. Rebekah Pineda finished 13th in the discus at 30.02. In the hammer throw, Rebekah came in 11th with a toss of 36.09.
Freshman distance runner Emma Bussard came in 11th in the 5000 with a time of 19:10. Mackenzie Wheaton also competed in the 5000 and had a time of 20:54.
Erin Putnam was in the 5000, as well with a time of 21:47. She also ran in the 10,000 and posted a time of 42:46. Wheaton was in the 10,000 and had a time of 42:59.
On the men's side, Will Beasley scored a point for Asheville in the triple jump with a leap of 13.78 meters. He also competed in the long jump and had a jump of 6.32. Beasley earned a spot on the Big South All-Academic team for his work in the classroom.
Kent Rankin ran in the 5000 and posted a time of 16:27.
Daniel Corriher had a throw of 31.95 in the discus and 38.12 in the hammer throw. Simon Haake threw 31.77 in the discus. Keith Scruggs had a throw of 42.52 in the hammer throw.
