ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's and women's Outdoor Track and Field squads will make their way to Radford University for the 2009 New Balance Track and Field Championships to be held at Cupp Stadium from Thursday through Saturday.

Action gets under way Thursday (April 16) morning at 10 a.m. with the men's javelin competition. The women's javelin competition begins later that day at 12:30 p.m.

The championships conclude with the awards ceremony Saturday (April 18) at 4 p.m.

A Bulldog to watch includes junior sprinter Natalie Pearson. Pearson has been one of the top sprinters in the 100 and 200 this year and should compete for a championship in both events.

On the men's side, junior thrower Keith Scruggs has been coming on very strong in the past few meets. He will look to get the Bulldogs points in the hammer throw and shot put.

Asheville should get strong performances in the 3000 Steeplechase on both the men's and women's side with Adam Matthews and Emma Bussard.
