Men's Tennis Falls to Winthrop

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The UNC Asheville men's tennis team dropped its regular season finale 6-1 to Winthrop Saturday at the Memorial Courts.
Mauricio Correa and Joe May scored an 8-3 victory over Daniel Daudt and Sergey Belov in the No. 1 doubles match, but the Eagles won the two other matches to earn the doubles point.
In singles play, Winthrop captured five of the six matches. The Bulldogs' lone win came from Jonas Brobeck in the No. 2 match as he defeated Sergey Belov 1-6, 7-6, 10-6.
Asheville moves to 6-14 on the season and 0-6 in the Big South, while Winthrop improves to 9-10 and 5-1 in the conference.
The Bulldogs play next on April 16 in the Big South Men's Tennis Championship at Winthrop. Sixth seeded Asheville will face Big South regular season champion Radford in the opening match at 10 a.m.
