Baseball Falls to George Mason in Second Game of Doubleheader, 6-2

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - George Mason defeated UNC Asheville 6-2 in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in the Courtyard by Marriott Classic at USC Upstate's Harley Park.
The Patriots (3-0, 0-0 CAA) took an early lead in the first inning. Chris Henderson singled and Scott Krieger tripled to drive him home for a 1-0 Mason lead. Justin Bour drove Kreiger in on a groundout.
The Bulldogs (0-3, 0-0 BSC) struck back in the second and third innings. In the top of the second, Reed Kreiser reached first base on a bunt single and advanced to second after a throwing error by third baseman Mark Hill. Kreiser moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on an infield hit by Austin Graham. In the third inning, Catlin Carter reached third base after a single by Justin Schumer. Beau Zinman tied the game at 2-2 with a sacrifice fly that drove in Carter.
Mason recaptured the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Krieger led off with a home run off of Ryan Dull. It was Krieger's 50th career homer. With runners on first and second, Josh Steinburg hit a two run double to make the score 5-2.
Justin Bour hit a solo homer in the sixth inning to give the Patriots the 6-2 advantage.
The Bulldogs will remain in Spartanburg as they take on Wofford tomorrow at 3 p.m. at Russell C. King Field on the Wofford campus.
George Mason wraps up its weekend against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Harley Park.
