Women?s Basketball Travels to Western on Wednesday

ASHEVILLE, N.C.-The UNC Asheville women's basketball team travels to Western Carolina for a 5 p.m. game in Cullowhee on Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs are 2-3 on the season after dropping their last two games to Campbell and USC Upstate. Lindsey Thompson has scored in double figures each of the last four games. Thompson has made a team-high 11 three-pointers this season. She and Chioma Okoli lead the Bulldogs in scoring at 10.6 points per game. Lindsey Montgomery is scoring 10 points and grabbing a team-high 7.8 rebounds per game. Kelli Riles had a team-high 11 points to establish a new season high against USC Upstate.
Western Carolina is 1-5 on the season but 1-0 in the Southern Conference. The Cats only win is in their only conference game, a 71-65 win at home against Wofford. WCU has three players scoring in double-figures led by Emily Clark who is scoring 12 points and grabbing 5.7 boards per game. She scored 20 points against James Madison on Sunday. Kaila'She Mendendez is averaging 11.8 points; she has two 20-point games already this season. Kendra Carroll is scoring 10.8 points per game.
Western Leads the all-time series 24-13 although last year it was Asheville that took a 90-71 victory at the Justice Center. WCU won 89-74 the last time the game was played in Cullowhee. The teams have split the last four meetings.
Wednesday's game will be the second of three straight road games for the Bulldogs. Asheville will conclude the trip on Saturday at Charlotte.
