ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's basketball team plays its first and only exhibition game this Friday night when the Bulldogs welcome Mars Hill to the Justice Center for a 7 p.m. tip-off.  Tickets are $8 for reserved and $6 for general admission.

The game will be video-streamed and can be seen for a small fee at www.bigsouthsports.com.

Asheville is coming off a frustrating 10-20 campaign from a year ago and anxious to improve on last year's season. The Bulldogs don't have any seniors on this year's roster but do have six juniors set to suit up for Asheville on Friday night.

"We're a work in progress, but we've worked hard in the preseason and are anxious to play a game," commented Bulldog head coach Betsy Blose. "Mars Hill will be a good test for our club. They are well-coached and have some good players."

The teams met last year in exhibition play with Asheville winning easily, 88-50.

"We won last year but Mars Hill's point guard didn't play, and they were really banged up," admitted Blose. "I don't expect anything close to that this year. We're going to have to play well to have a chance at winning."

The Bulldogs open the regular season next Saturday (Nov. 14) afternoon against Newberry at Justice Center starting at 4:30 p.m.

NOTES - Both teams were picked eighth in their respective conference preseason polls...the Bulldogs will have six players playing for the first time on Friday with four newcomers and two red-shirt freshmen slated to be on the court...UNC Asheville will play 15 regular-season home games this season.
