Kulesz to Compete at Junior Outdoor Championships at Drake

Cross County Teams Participate in Southeast Regional

LOUISVILLE, KY. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's cross country teams participated in the Southeast Regional in Louisville this morning. Both teams finished in 31st place.

"This was a great experience for our young teams to participate in a regional," commented Bulldog coach Jesse Norman. "We did a good job for the most part and learned a lot. This experience will just make us a better program as we continue to build."

On the women'side, freshman Melanie Kulesz finished with a time of 22:52 over the 6-K course. The freshman earned all-conference honors at the Big South meet two weeks ago with a 10th-place finish.

Freshman Clair Powell had a time of 22:58, while Emma Bussard posted a time of 24:24. Fresman Alyska Kalmeijer ran the 6K-course in 24:29. Rachel Ambrosia finished at 24:54. Erin Putnam had a time of 25:17. Kylie Smith rounded out the Bulldog effort with a time of 25:51.

On the men's side, Eliud Chirchir finished the 10-K course with a time of 33:23. It was the sixth fastest 10-K time in school history. Sam Maynard posted a time of 34:09. Jay Barringer came in at 34:59, while Kent Rankin finished with a time of 35:34.

Adam Schnapp had a time of 36:29. Adam Vick rounded out the Bulldog runners at a time of 36:50.
