Bulldog Volleyball Hosts Presbyterian College

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville volleyball team will host Big South Conference rival Presbyterian College at Justice Center Tuesday evening starting at 7 p.m. The match can be seen via video-streaming at www.bigsouthsports.com.

The Bulldogs are in first place in the Big South Conference with an 8-1 league mark. They are 19-7 overall and seek their 20th victory of the season against the Blue Hose. Asheville recorded a 3-0 victory over league foe Radford on Saturday afternoon at home. The victory snapped a brief two-match losing streak for the Bulldogs.

"We played better against Radford," commented Asheville coach Julie Torbett. "I thought we got better as the match went on and was pleased that we were able to win the match in three sets."

The Bulldogs defeated PC earlier this season on the road in three sets on Oct. 6.

"The win at Presbyterian was one of our best efforts of the season," declared Torbett. "We have a lot of respect for their program and will need to play well to win on Tuesday.

"Nothing is going to be easy from here on out," added Torbett. "It's nice to be in first place but there's a target on our back right now. We have to ready to play each and every time out because we're getting our opponents best shot."

Presbyterian College has a 9-15 overall record but is 4-5 in Big South play. They defeated Charleston Southern in three sets on Saturday.

NOTES - UNC Asheville's next win will be its 20th of the year and that will mark the first time since the 2005 season the Bulldogs have won 20 matches...Asheville is 6-1 at home this year...PC defeated Asheville at home last year in four sets... Senior libero Raquel Miotto has 2,480 digs in her career and is in fifth place on the NCAA's all-time career list for digs.
